British mining conglomerate Billiton PLC has announced a number of acquisitions to increase its holdings. The acquisitions are Brazil's iron ore producer Cia. Vale do Rio Doce, Australia's aluminum company Worsley, and Canada's copper producer Rio Algom Ltd.

WMC rejects offer from Alcoa
