Carbon Everflow, a KK Bangur group company, has three divisions - Graphite Electrode, Glass Reinforced Pipes division and Impervious Graphite Equipment division. Its Graphite Electrodes division manufactures normal grade and ultra high power electrodes and chips in over 70 percent of the company's sales. Carbon Everflow is now focusing on ultra high power electrodes where margins are high. During 1997-98, Carbon Everflow registered exports of Rs67 crore which is over 50 percent its total sales. Carbon Everflow scrip was quoting at Rs35 as on June 1998. Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL) has projected a net profit of Rs65 crore on a turnover of Rs387 crore during 1998-99. It has a presence in bulk drugs, finished dosage forms, diagnostics and biotechnology segments. Its product portfolio comprises of 20 bulk drugs and 54 formulations. DRL exports its products to 28 countries and around 28 percent of its domestic sales falls under the Drug Price Control Order. DRL has resumed exports to Russia which was temporarily suspended since August 1998. DRL proposes to invest Rs38 crore on capital expenditure, brand acquisitions and research and development during 1998-99. (tsm)(vr)

Kinetic Engineering Ltd was able to do well, despite the industrial slowdown in 1997-98, and increase its profits to Rs13.74 crore from Rs13.48 crore. It managed to increase its sales by 20 percent to Rs137.66 crore and net profit by over 15 percent to Rs5.67 crore in the first half of 1998-99. It has decided to launch two 4-stroke motorcycles in 1999, which are to be priced lower than the models of existing players.
