BANK AM INTRODUCES AT PAR FACILITY
Article Abstract:
Bank of America has introduced, for the first time, at par cheque facilities for account holders to issue cheques payable at the four metros. At these four metros of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Calcutta, the bank has a range of deposit and loan services. All Value Plus current account holders will be issued these cheques. So far, at par facility has been in existence only for pre-paid instruments like dividend warrants. However, select current account holders are now permitted by RBI to make use of the at par cheque facility.

Syndicate Bank has achieved a 300 percent increase in operating profit at Rs102.61 crore in the first half of 1998 (Rs300 crore in first half of 1997-98). The global business level of the bank has overshoot Rs28,880 crore on September 1998. The total deposit base stood at Rs19,189 crore and advances at Rs9,700 crore. In the first half of 1998-99, the global deposit base of the bank went up by about Rs2,375 crore from Rs16,914 crore to Rs19,189 crore at the end of 1997-98.(uh)
