RBI REVISES WMA SCHEME FOR STATES
Article Abstract:
The Reserve bank of India (RBI) has made changes in the Ways and Means Advances (WMA) scheme for state governments, including an increase in the WMA limit, restrictions on misuse of the scheme and measures to enable more discriminatory lending. The RBI has increased the WMA limits of state governments by 65 percent from Rs2234.40 crore to Rs3685 crore. It has removed the upper limit for special WMA as a multiple of minimum balance and will instead provide states with special WMA against their actual holdings of dated government securities. (khr)
