Bringing fiber home
Article Abstract:
Verizon Communications Inc. is laying fiber-optic cable directly to individual houses. Currently, individual houses rely on slow-speed copper lines to access the high speed cable connections provided by fiver-optic links gathered in local nodes. Verizon's new network of cable connections will allow it to provide faster Internet service. Though a costly investment in the present, the company is hoping that its new infrastructure will better position it to adapt to new cable technologies in the future.
