Carlyle's $10 billion puts private equity in hunt for big game

The Carlyle Group of the United States has raised $7.85 billion for United States equity buy-outs and an additional $2.2 billion for European investments. Also the investment bank will be able to borrow approximately $45 billion against the original $10 billion.

Carlyle, Prudential buy stake in Chinese insurer

Carlyle Group of the United States and Prudential Financial Inc. also of the United States are buying 24.98 percent or $408.7 million each in a Chinese insurance interest. The Pacific Life Insurance Co. is the third largest life insurance company in China.
