Pie in the sky: Indian law delay frustrates satellite-TV programmers
Article Abstract:
India was a promising market for satellite television broadcasters just a year ago, but the landmark broadcasting bill has been delayed in parliament, and investment has virtually halted. The government wants to curb foreign investment in satellite broadcasting and the cap on foreign equity is a major cause for concern. New Delhi's overall policies for communications and information-technology are unclear, and analysts say that competition within the different service categories should be encouraged.
