Teens feel powerless but their rebellion is seen in their attire and hairstyles. White rich youth with guilt and fear of what they are, emulate the dress of Black street teens and romanticize their lifestyle. Poor teens with dead end futures emulate the dress of suburbia, although with subtle twists.
