Chase, Deutsche Bank accept Russian debt deal
Article Abstract:
Chase Manhattan Bank and Deutsche Bank AG have agreed to participate in a Russian treasury debt restructuring deal. The surprise move by Chase and Deutsche Bank has infuriated other members of a 19-bank committee representing foreign bondholders. Holders of Russian debt say the restructuring deal will leave them with only about $0.05 on the dollar. Chase Manhattan Bank has submitted bonds from its own account to be converted into longer term securities, and Deutsche Bank has submitted portions of both its own and its clients' bonds.
