Cosmetics and toiletries are increasingly popular in Belgium. The sector is expected to growth throughout 1999 and the year 2000. Dutch cosmetics and toiletries retail sales valued 3.4 billion G in 1997. Hair care products made up 22.3% total sector value in 1997. Oral hygiene goods made up 11.9% total sector value in 1997. More cosmetics and toiletry goods were imported than exported during the period.

The pharmaceutical sales sector in Belgium will expand by up to five percent in 1999, forecast analysts. International trade in pharmaceuticals totalled 298.637 Belgian francs in 1997. Supermarket retail outlets gained market share in the cosmetics and toiletries sector in 1997, selling 14,019 Belgian francs worth of goods. A nine percent rise in total toiletries and cosmetics sales occurred in 1997.

Chemists' goods in France
Article Abstract:
A general rise in the sale of chemists' goods, including cosmetics, toiletries, drugs and cleaning products, is anticipated. An eight percent growth in toiletries and cosmetics sector sales occurred in 1997, totalling sixty-six billion French francs. The total value of pharmaceutical product sales in France during 1997 was 130.25 billion French francs, a rise of eight percent since 1996.
