China curbs Japanese auto imports

China has placed new import restrictions of Japanese automobile imports, which totaled 47,000 last year. The restriction comes in the midst of a trade dispute that began with Chinese agricultural products. While the goods involved account for only a small fraction of the annual bilateral trade, the dispute is significant because it involves concerns the flood of Chinese exports.

Beijing takes bad debt to the auction block
Article Abstract:
As China opens its markets, the government is trying to strengthen its state banks by getting rid of their bad debts and reselling them at a discount. This plan has begun with an auction of $1.9 billion in distressed assets, originally held by Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Three bids from foreign and domestic interests have been received.
