China mocks the Olympic spirit
Article Abstract:
The 2008 Olympics will be held in Beijing, as China has strengthened its image as a sporting nation, and that China has the economic resources to hold such and event. However, the Olympic spirit of unity and equality is contradicted by the repression of activists, treatment of exiles, and violation of human rights committed by the Communist Party. The political aspects of the Olympics are evaluated.

China's complicit capitalists
Article Abstract:
The political system in China has changed to become more institutionalized and inclusive, and the growth in private entrepreneurship has influenced these developments. However, Chinese capitalists have never organized themselves politically to pursue democratic change in the country. The influence of private entrepreneurs on the future of China's political system is analyzed further.
