New free-trade agreements in Asia will economically bring China closer to the rest of the Southeastern Asian nations. Concern, however exists that China's growing economic power could disrupt economic development in the rest of the region. It could also improve the entire region's economy. It will most likely mitigate U.S. and Japanese influence in the region.
