Canadian firm's gold-mining venture in China boosts prospects for industry

The first joint venture in gold mining in China is expected to usher in an influx of foreign prospectors for gold. Asia Minerals Corp. has entered into an agreement with Shandong Zhaoyuan Gold Industrial Group to establish a joint venture for mining China's rich gold deposits. Both firms will invest $36 million into the venture, called the Shandong Zhaoyuan Dayingezhuang Mining Co.
