Can the black vote hold up?
Article Abstract:
The National Coalition on Black Voter Participation aims to promote political awareness among African Americans whatever party they support. African Americans have tended to vote Democratic, especially since the 1960s civil rights reforms. There is only one African American Republican in the House, and there are links between some southern Republicans and racist groups. There are a number of concerns for African American concern, such as the concentration of their votes in cities losing political power as a result of population loss, and the need for funds for a political campaign.

Out of the dark, Republican glimmers
Article Abstract:
The Republican Party is recovering from its failure to remove President Bill Clinton through impeachment, though there is some disorganization among Republicans in Congress. There is confusion over their policy toward the conflict in Yugoslavia, since additional funds have been approved, yet the bombing campaign has not been endorsed. Voters are more likely to be concerned about domestic issues, and a new Republican leader, Texas governor, George W. Bush, may be able to provide leadership for the party.
