AIB to acquire an 80% stake in Polish lender
Article Abstract:
Allied Irish Banks (AIB) has reached an agreement to acquire 80% of Poland's Bank Zachodni SA. The deal brings to an end a period of commercial bank privatization in Poland. AIB will purchase Bank Zachodni for $582 million (563.3 million euros). The deal must first be approved by regulators. AIB also agreed to invest up to 850 million zlotys into Bank Zachodni.
