Clashes to come
Article Abstract:
Bolivia is eradicating coca bushes as part of a drive to control the cocaine trade. There was also compensation for growers which has ended. The government is taking action against coca paste producers. Growers can receive compensation in the form of measures to help with the production of alternative crops, but they argue that there are not markets for these alternative crops. Growers are becoming more militant, but they lack popular support.
