Article Abstract:
Revelations of extensive match-fixing in Malaysia's football league have created a national scandal as well as a suspicious investigation of players and bookies. Called soccer in the US, the sport has not lost its huge following in Malaysia despite news that 85% or 95% of the 1994 matches were rigged. Police have publicly arrested many players, but bookies' names have not been released. The national team was chosen with police advice on who might be charged soon. Similar events have rocked Singapore's sports world.

Founded in 1991 by Tunku Imran Jaafar and named for his father, now King of Malaysia, it and other royals-related institutions faced a sharp govt crackdown two years ago, but now the govt even offers scholarships to the school. It fits well with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mahathir Mohamad's plans for education in the country.
