Clinton warms to India
Article Abstract:
President Bill Clinton has visited India and aims to improve relations between that country and the US. There has been agreement on a continued dialogue between the two countries after Clinton's presidency ends. There are still unresolved trade disputes, and the US is seeking Indian agreement to the Test Ban Treaty, though the US Senate has yet to ratify the treaty. Clinton will also visit Pakistan, and there is greater pressure on Pakistani leader, Pervez Musharraf, to resolve the conflict with India over Kashmir, as a result of Clinton's visit.

Good intentions
Article Abstract:
It is clear that the US, as the world's large economy and the only remaining superpower, must play a key role in resolving regional crises. However, the US has rather mixed views about the rest of the world, just as foreigners have mixed views about the US. Some of President Bill Clinton's critics will continue to claim that he has not established a consistent and comprehensive foreign policy, even if goals such as negotiating a peace settlement in the Middle East are achieved. However, it is important to realize that the US foreign affairs budget has been halved in real terms since 1984.

Clinton props up the old world
Article Abstract:
President Bill Clinton has traveled to southeast Europe where is is seen as a leader who has an important impact on the future of the region. The US has become involved in a number of conflicts in the region, and a number of these conflicts involve Russia. This means that relations with Russia are an important isssue for Clinton. Clinton is admired as a warrior, sometimes more than for his role as a peacemaker, and this means that those involved in disputes often wish to have Clinton on their side rather than acting as a broker.
