System detects helicopter operations
Article Abstract:
TNO Physics and Electronics Laboratory has created an acoustic helicopter detection device and classification technology demonstrator. TNO is set to team up with EQS to possibly incorporate the new helicopter sensor with the latter's new Hermes 2000 unattended ground sensor system to be delivered to the Royal Netherlands Army. With off-the-shelf microphones, the helicopter detector is capable of detecting helicopters at a distance of around 1,000 m.
