Travel time analysis for general item location assignment in a rectangular warehouse
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize a travel time framework supporting general item location assignment in a rectangular warehouse system. Results indicated that travel time can be utilized to determine the throughput or handling requirements during the evaluation of various types of material handling systems used in warehouse planning. The needed number of material handlers can be determined by changing the order picking system as a queueing system.
