Europe looks ahead to the US
Article Abstract:
Planned liberalization of the US power market is set to see a rash of important and expensive mergers and acquisitions deals during 2000, with many UK firms looking to the US for expansion opportunities. UK-based PowerGen is reported seeking a takeover deal up to the value of $5 billion in the US during 2000. Deregulation of the power industry throughout Europe will also be conducive to consolidative mergers and acquisition transactions.
