Article Abstract:
Taiwan-based computer companies Arima Corp, GVC Corp, Acer Peripherals Inc and DGTEL Inc. are planning to enter the mobile telephone market. Sales of mobile telephones in 1998 were reported to have increased by 51% internationally. The large portion of this growth was dominated by only three companies, namely, Nokia Corp, Motorola Inc and Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson. The Taiwanese companies are optimistic that the huge global market cannot possibly be fully served by these companies and that their products would fill in the supply gap.
