Consolidate or bust
Article Abstract:
A glut of shopping malls in the US will force many to consolidate. Total shopping center space has increased from 13.1 square feet per person in 1980 to 18.5 square feet per person by 1993. Retail clothing stores have been the hardest hit. The retail industry in Europe is also discussed.

When firms go bust
Article Abstract:
The US Congress is considering altering the Chapter 11 bankruptcy law which requires shareholders and creditors to approve reorganization plans. Chapter 7, which requires liquidation for debt, also takes too long under current rules. Reforms are discussed.
