Chained operators accounted for 26.9% of the UK foodservice market in 1999 in unit terms, with their share in value terms being 35.4%. McDonald's held the leading chained consumer value share, at 14.5%. However, the consumer foodservice market remained very diverse, with no firm holding overall dominance.
