Currency bonds will bloom; domestic investors fueling growth of market
Article Abstract:
Local-currency bond markets are strong contenders for investment dollars when the economies of Asia begin to stabilize. Asian companies invested previously on phone systems, power plants and toll roads, projects whose revenues were in the form of baht, rupiah or pesos. Thus, when the crisis came, they were unprepared and repaying loans became an added burden. When Asian economies stage a comeback, currency bond markets will provide an attractive alternative to domestic investors.

Brokerage houses rehire on stock-market rallies in Asia
Article Abstract:

However, brokerage companies remain cautious and are hiring only a senior analyst or two in major markets. Industry executives are unsure whether the current positive trend will continue long enough to justify a much large increase in employees.
