DENMARK: DSB GODS TO REPORT HUGER LOSSES
Article Abstract:
DSB Gods, the cargo division of the state-owned Danish rail operator, will report even huger losses in 1999 than in the past few years. In a statement to the Transport Committee of Folketinget, the Danish Parliament, the Ministry of Transport writes that the budgeted loss, DKr 400mn (USD 57mn), will be exceeded. DSB Gods accounts for only 1.3% of domestic cargo transports. Road transports are cheaper, and have taken over the main part of domestic transports. However, DSB believes new electric locomotives will benefit the company, especially in transit transports.
