DENMARK: GROWTH IN ECONOMY UPGRADED
Article Abstract:
Handelsbanken, the major Swedish bank, has upgraded its expectations of the Danish economical growth in 1999 to 1.5% from 1%. The reason behind this is that the global economy is expected to grow more than previously anticipated, and this benefits Danish exports. The Danish payment balance will show a DKr 4.4bn (USD 0.6bn) deficit for 1999, up from previous estimates of a DKr 9bn deficit, according to the bank. In 2000, the payment balance is expected to show a DKr 2.5bn surplus.
