DENMARK: MARKETING OF ORGANIC FOODS
Article Abstract:
In the next twelve months, an additional DKr 50mn (USD 7mn) will be invested in the marketing of organic foods by Danish dairies. The Government contributes with 25% of the money, which will be used both on the domestic market and abroad. Kaj Ole Pedersen, chairman of Mejeriforeningen, the Danish dairy association, says it must be possible to offer organic products at higher prices than conventional products, otherwise organic production has no future. By now, only about 50% of organic milk are sold at higher prices than conventional milk.
