DENMARK: NEW MOBILE SERVICES TO BE INTRODUCED
Article Abstract:
Danish telecoms companies and Internet content suppliers are to join forces to introduce new mobile telephony services in the Danish market. They aim to charge up to DKr10 for Internet content supply of for example sports results, ring tones etc. during a test period that will extend until mid-November. This would give content suppliers easy access to the established sms service sector. According to Elin Norsoe Stenberg of Mobilix, the aim has been to secure a standard set-up between operators so that the content suppliers can make the same offer to their clients irrespective of which operator they have opted for. According to the Danish telecoms analyst John Strand of Strand Consult, the co-operation between operators and content suppliers is of major importance for them as "UMTS will teach Danes to pay for Internet content in the same way as they pay for a newspaper subscription".
