Denmark: Coop Norden wants access to passive capital
Article Abstract:
Coop Norden, the Nordic co-operative giant, aims to gain access to the capital worth DKr2bn held by the independent co-operative societies, according to chairman of the board Ebbe Lundgaard. He says Coop Norden cannot afford to have passive capital and aims to revive the discussions about financial co-operation with the co-op societies after the formal formation of Coop Norden at the turn of the year. Lundgaard says it was the unwillingness of the co-operative societies to lend money to FDB (Co-op Denmark) that contributed to the major Nordic merger.
