DENMARK: SKANDINAVISK TOBAK TO ADJUST TO RULES
Article Abstract:
Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni, the Danish tobacco producer, is to start developing new cigarettes to adjust to the future tougher EU regulation concerning the content of different substances in cigarettes. By now, Danish regulation allows 12 grams of tar per cigarette; this is likely to be reduced to 10 grams. As regards the content of nicotine and carbon monoxide, this is not regulated in Denmark, whereas the EU wishes to introduce limits of 1 milligram and 10 milligrams respectively. However, Director Claus Bagger of Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni says he doesn't expect the company's profitability to be negatively affected by the new regulation.
