DaimlerChrysler-Hyundai deal is likely to make modest start

A DaimlerChrysler AG-Hyundai Motor Co. joint venture in Asia is scheduled to begin moderate operations by the end of July 2001. However, the commercial vehicle venture is not expected to be concluded until late 2001 or early 2002.

GM signs deal to produce SUVs in Russia

Peugeot's first-half profit surged 60%
Article Abstract:
PSA Peugeot Citroen posted an improvement of 60% in its profits for the first-half of 1999. The results were higher-than-expected. Peugeot also predicted that it might post higher-than-expected profits for the entire 1999 year. Peugeot is the second-largest manufacturer of automobiles in Europe. The company posted 543 million euros for the first-half. During the same period in 1998, Peugeot posted 339 million euros.
