Dalkia (Vivendi) strengthens its position in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
Moravskoslezske teplarny (MST) (Ostrava, Czech Republic) and Teplarny Karvina (TK) (Karvina, Czech Republic), power firms, have 95% stakes held by Dalkia (France). Dalkia, former Compagnie Generale de Chauffe (France), has increased its stakes in the firms by the purchase of 34% stakes from the mining firm OKD Ostrava (Ostrava, Czech Republic). The group Vivendi, which includes Dalkia, spent about 900 mil FRF, 160 mil USD, on the transaction. MST and TK have a capacity of nearly 3,000 MW of heat and 350 MW of electric power. The firms expect a total turnover of more than 1.1 mil FRF per year, 200 mil USD per year, after the commissioning of a new electric power source at the end of 1998. Dalkia has also arranged a five-year contract on coal supplies with OKD and an agreement about co-operation in the realisation of a project of co-generation equipment with a power capacity of 250 MW in Karvina. Vivendi has also arranged the co-operation agreement with the distribution firm Severomoravska energetika (Ostrava, Czech Republic).
