Deadlocked South Africa
Article Abstract:
The negotiations to totally abolish apartheid in South Africa have stalled. F.W. de Klerk is reluctant to hand power over to the Black majority. Nelson Mandela wants full voting power for Blacks; De Klerk advocates a transitional period of power sharing which would give greater voting power to the White minority.

South African president Frederik W. de Klerk has taken steps to reduce the violence inflicted upon South Africans. The recent protests by the African National Congress and its followers threaten to perpetuate the violence and create anarchy.
