Decent exposure
Article Abstract:
There are 95 pavilions on the site of Expo '92 in Seville, Spain. The theme is discovery and innovation and many of the buildings celebrate High-Tech architecture. The UK, Dutch and Swedish pavilions exemplify the high-tech approach. Others, including The North African, Singapore and Pakistan belnd high-tech with a pastiche of national style. New Zealand and Saudi Arabia attempt wit. A few attempt to convey the culture of their country with the Hungarian pavilion particularly successful. Expo has also brought new permanent buildings to Seville, including the airport and Sant Justa railway station.

Cullinan's bold approach
Article Abstract:
The visitor centre for the National Trust's Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire, England, is designed by Edward Cullinan Architects. It is a sensitive site, being on Unesco's World Heritage list. The National Trust wished to attract more visitors to the site and wanted a visitor centre to include a restaurant, shop and exhibition centre. The Cullinan building cost two million pounds sterling and contains 1600m squared of space. The bold design makes a positive contribution to the landscape with a mix of forms and materials.
