Defending Europe
Article Abstract:
There is a need for Europeans to take defense issues seriously, especially since two world wars have originated in Europe in the 20th century. Europeans were irritated at the US control of events in Bosnia and Kosovo, Yugoslavia, and this has led to a drive to develop a stronger European force. There are questions as to the impact of such a development on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and links between the US and Europe.

The defence of Europe: it can't be done alone
Article Abstract:
The fall of communism in Eastern Europe has brought about less concern in the US over the defense of Europe, and the realization in European countries that they will have to do more in their own defense. New defense strategies are discussed, but US support will always be needed.
