Great Britain's Labor Party proposed changes to the country's constitution that bring the country closer to the 21st century rather than leaving it in the 19th century. The proposals include allowing more democracy for citizens and removing heredity as a basis for seats in the House of Lords.

Labor Prime Minister Tony Blair is proceeding rapidly with constitutional reforms that are poorly thought out. Devolution to Scotland is moving forward without much thought on Scottish demands for subsidies that will tax the British. Labor needs to move more slowly and patiently with reforms.
