Denmark: Mobile phone subscriptions forecast to double
Article Abstract:
Mobile phone subscriptions are about to outpace the number of fixed telephony subscriptions in Denmark and are forecast to grow to around 3.91 million during December 2001. Michael Moesgaard Andersen of the consultancy company Andersen Management International expects the number of mobile telephony subscriptions to double or triple in the course of the next eight to ten years as mobile phones in the future will be built in machines that use them automatically for communication with the outside world. According to him, new clients will thus not be as valuable for operators as the existing ones. Telia Mobile's manager Poul Erik Olsen says client base should thus not be taken as an indication for how successful a mobile operator is. He is, however, less enthusiastic as regards growth rates for subscriber numbers.
