Diving for cover
Article Abstract:
British Airways (BA) could report a loss of between 100 million pounds sterling and 200 million pounds for 1999-2000. The company is focusing on core activities, while rivals are expanding, and on premium passengers rather than the leisure market. There is concern that competitors could gain market share at the expense of BA, and that BA's unit costs will increase. Air France meanwhile is increasing capacity and is performing better than before in terms of results.
