Dixons pretax profit for year rose 11%, beating forecasts

Dixons Group PLC reported profit for the year a little ahead of expectations but stock fell because of forecasts for slower growth, weak margins, and uncertainty about the company's intentions for its 80% share of Freeserve PLC. Underlying pretax profit at the electric retailer increased 11% to GBP263.7 million (Euro419.7 million) in the year ended 4/29/00.

Dixons Group to Buy Elkjop of Norway
