Don't forget Burundi: behind it hovers the spectre of Rwanda

East African nations comendably sanctioned Burundi when a coup replaced a democratically elected Hutu president with Tutsi Maj Pierre Buyoya. Buyoya, a moderate, may indeed restore peace and democracy to Burundi, but the rest of the world must keep the pressure to prevent a Rwandan-style genocide.

There is a need for rich countries to join in an effort to tackle AIDS and malaria in Africa. Malaria costs African economies more than is traditonally supposed, and an investment to combat the disease would bring good returns.
