Dresdner reorganizes risk units
Article Abstract:
Dresdner Bank AG, Germany's third largest bank, is restructuring its risk management in order to prevent catastrophic losses. The move is seen as a reaction to the near financial failure of the Long-Term Capital Management hedge fund which caused a loss of $142 million to Dresdner Bank. The new structure, which includes the formation of a new department, will make total and individual risk components more apparent. Many other banks are involved in similar efforts.
