Dutch operators lose West-African grounds

Article Abstract:

The decision of Mauritanian and Conseil d'Europe (EC) to extend the banned area for fishing to protect fish stocks has harmed the interests of Dutch trawler owners. The Netherlands Association of Trawler Owners has complained on the decision stating that it is not based on the scientific grounds and accurate data. Trawler operators are negotiating for the support from Dutch fisheries minister.

500 inshore boats are caught up in: EU North Sea shrimp crisis

Article Abstract:

The contradictory aims of the two different European Union departments, DG14 (fisheries) and DG4 (competition) has led to a crisis in the North Sea brown shrimp fishing industry. The 500 coastal shrimp trawlers based in Holland, Germany and Denmark are in serious trouble with the landing prices coming down by more than half.

Dutch panic at the size of plaice stock

The plaice fish total allowable stock has reduced from 77,000 tons to 60,000 tons in Dutch waters to have a chance for the fishes to reproduce and reach biological safety levels of 2,50,000 tons.
