EMI Group PLC posted a decline in pretax profits of 26% for the year ending on March 31, 1999. However, the company said that the new fiscal 1999 year has gotten off to a good start due to strong sales in Japan and the US. EMI, a music company based in Great Britain, announced that its pretax profits dropped to 227.1 million pound sterling ($362.8 million) in the last fiscal year. During the year before, EMI posted 307.1 million pound sterling.
