Eta - good results

Eta (Hlinsko v Cechach, Czech Republic), household electrical appliance manufacturer, saw a profit of CEK 4.431 mil in 2000. Its operating profit amounted to CEK 99.2 mil in 2000, seven-times as much as in 1999. Its value added decreased by 17% during the same period. The main reasons were the growth of input material prices, the development of the exchange rate of the Czech crown and the sale of non-strategical production. The company sold electrical appliances worth CEK 1.965 bil in 2000, which corresponds to 97.7% of the 1999 sales. The drop was caused by a decrease in the firm's domestic sales. Eta's exports increased by 7.2% in 2000 compared to 1999. Its exports to Slovakia rose by 50% during the same period. Eta exported goods worth a total of CEK 1.3 bil in 2000, about 1.5 mil products. About 84% of the 2000 exports were represented by vacuum cleaners, irons and deep-fat fryers. Exports represented 67% of the firm's total sales in 2000 compared to 61.1% in 1999 and 44% in 1998.

Boiler supplies influence profit

Article Abstract:

ABB CR (Czech Republic), electrotechnical firm, saw a gross profit of 472 mil Kc in 1998. The company saw a loss in 1997. The 1998 profit was positively influenced by the completion of the Power Centre Kladno, the desulphurising of the power station Melnik and payments for the supplies of boilers for the power station Ledvice. Besides, ABB CR is developing other activities, mainly automation and petrochemical production.
