European integration of planning education
Article Abstract:
Planning education links in the EC (European Community) are already underway, and future links may be forged with former communist countries who wish to join. Students doing planning courses participate in ERASMUS (a student and teacher swap EC initiative), although teaching staff have not done so in large numbers. Eastern European countries are wary of planning, equating it with centralised bureaucracies and may take longer to respond to EC planning education exchanges.

Interprofessionalism and planning education
Article Abstract:
It is suggested that collaboration in the built environment professions may be the way forward for the planning profession. Alliances between architects, planners, surveyors and landscape would recognise common skills and studies. The study programmes would need to be carefully monitored to ensure that shared studies are balanced by special areas appropriate to the individual interest.

Restructuring of planning education?
Article Abstract:
The changes occurring in UK higher education will lead to changes in planning education. Schemes such as credit accumulation and accreditation of previous courses and work experience may be introduced. National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's) which measure application of skills in the workplace on five levels are seen as having major implications for planning education.
