Article Abstract:
Pet products such as prepared foods, accessories and health products are predicted to enjoy quick growth in Europe's markets. In 1983, the European market for pet products was worth about four billion dollars. It could reach five billion dollars by 1990, based on surveys of the nations in Western Europe. There are approxinately two hundred million pets in about forty-six million homes in Eurpoe. Human food consumption has leaned toward convenience meals, which has decreased the amount of leftovers suitable for feeding pets. Convenience foods for pets have gained popularity. Overall increases in the standard of living have contributed to the demand for more and different pet accessories. Suppliers of animal products in less developed nations are expected to enjoy greater profits in this market. The United Kingdom is the strongest individual market with France and Germany consuming about half as much. Pet food types are analyzed.
