The acquisition of Kleinwort Benson, a British merchant bank, by Germany's Dresdner Bank might serve as a warning lesson for other possible international bank mergers. The merger seemed a difficult and uncertain one, and it resulted in the resignation of the head of Kleinwort, Simon Robertson.
