Executives praise crisis for clues to long-term success: midsize companies look beyond survival by discussing how to generate positive cash flow

Many participants of the World Economic Forum's 1998 East Asia Economic Summit agree that managers should take heed of the lessons to be learned from the regional economic crisis. Many midsize company managers are looking for ways to generate a positive cashflow. Strategies range from limiting credit to cost cutting to finding new customers and markets. Wong Ngit Long of Venture Manufacturing says the regional economic crisis benefits companies since cost structure is lowered when currencies go down.

Carr Securities. Taylor adds that US and European central bankers are in the position to avert another crisis.
